Junior College Band Festival 2007

Experience exciting wind music with the Junior College Band Festival 2007!

In the Junior College Band Festival, band members from various junior colleges and pre-university institutions come together and form festival bands which perform under the batons of Local and international conductors, Dr Tony Mazzaferro, Mr Tan Aik Kee and Mr Tan Beng Wee.

This seventh edition of the festival brings you a diverse repertoire from four bands, one of which is the Honour Band led by internationally renowned conductor, Dr Tony Mezzaferro from USA. Hand-picked via audition, members of the Honour Band will present spectacular music from different cultures and genres. Dr. Mazzaferro is currently the Director of Bands at Fullerton College.

In addition to his academic assignments, he conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Community Band, and instructs Applied Euphonium and Tuba. He is also completing his eleventh year as Principal Conductor of the Claremont Symphonic Winds.

Come and experience this concert of exciting wind music and celebration of newfound friendship.

Singapore International Wind Band Competition 2008

Together with the National Institute of Education, we are proud to present Singapore International Wind Band Competition 2008.

To further promote wind band activities beyond schools and to provide a platform for local bands to present performance of excellent standard, WBAS will be organizing the Singapore International Wind Band Competition.

In our effort for local bands members to better understand and experience the development of wind bands internationally, WBAS will also invite bands from around the world to participate in this Competition.

This Competition will be opened to bands of all levels in Singapore and internationally, including school, alumni, community, tertiary, industry bands.

Participating bands may also get an opportunity to experience different culture and establish new friendship with overseas band via the exchange programme.

Steered by an artistic committee made up by music professional from various local and international organisations and institutions, this Competition will take place at the Nanyang Auditorium from 24 to 27 July 2008.

More details on the Competition will be released at a later date.
